Steven Shoop Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. - Cranberry Twp on Jan. 3, 2026.
Steven Frank Shoop, 39, of New Sewickley Twp., entered his eternal rest on December 28, 2025. Born on January 4, 1986 in Butler, PA, he was the son of Michael Shoop of Butler, PA, and Deborah Shoop of Rochester, PA. He leaves behind his two older, beloved brothers, Jonathan Shoop of Fombell, PA, and Ryan Shoop of St. Augustine, FL; his beloved grandmother, Natalie Herbenick of Atlantic Beach, FL. He carried Elizabeth Ann in his heart, along with cherished Aunts and Uncles and cousins, and treasured friends and neighbors that made such a beautiful impact on his life.
He attended Butler High School and Universal Technical Institute. He attended Mass with his mom and brother at Divine Grace Parish - St. Ferdinand Church in Cranberry Twp. He also enjoyed volunteering his time for Communicycle in Monaca, PA.
From a young age, Steven felt most at home outdoors. He carried a deep love for nature and with his rare, almost instinctive ability to connect with animals. He found joy in fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. His love of the outdoors led him to pursue work in the landscape/hardscape field.
Driven by an inquisitive spirit, Steven had a remarkable talent for building and repairing just about anything. He was mechanically gifted, worked with his hands confidently and skillfully. Tools felt like extensions of who he was - he possessed a natural ability to build, fix, and create with both precision and heart bringing new life into anything broken.
His natural charisma, quick wit, and genuine warmth allowed him to effortlessly make friends. He was a true social butterfly, able to strike up conversations with anyone bridging generations and backgrounds with ease.
Steven's life was not without struggle. He openly faced the challenges of addiction - a battle that at times stood between him and the full realization of his potential. Yet even in the depths of that struggle, Steven remained deeply compassionate. In his moments of sobriety, he poured light into the lives of others who were hurting, ensuring that no one felt the isolation he himself knew so well. His empathy allowed him to sit with others in their pain without judgment. His resilience gave him the ability to push through the physical and emotional turmoil life handed him.
Faith was the foundation of Steven's life, and prayer was his lifeline. He believed deeply in the power of prayer and its transformative role. He credited every moment of clarity, and every blessing to God. His relationship with God was personal and sustaining in his journey. Through Alcoholics Anonymous and his faith, Steven found support, strength, accountability, and hope. He believed deeply in the power of God to restore what seems to be beyond repair. For anyone struggling with addiction, Steven would want his life to speak this truth: "You are braver than your addiction." He lived believing that no one is beyond God's reach, and that even the most broken seasons can still carry purpose, meaning, and love.
Friends will be received from 4:00-8:00pm on Monday, January 12, 2026 at the Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., Inc., 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Twp., PA, 16066.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church – Divine Grace Parish, 2535 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Twp., PA 16066, with Father John Gallagher, officiating.
Steven will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.
