Steven Robert Siegel, 32, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, at University of Louisville Hospital, surrounded by family and dear friends.
Steven was born to Micheal Siegel and Shannon Avila on August 25, 1991 in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He graduated from Central Hardin High School, Class of 2009. He furthered his education, specifying in history, at Eastern Kentucky University.
Steven was a brilliant, loving, and vibrant soul with a healthy dose of stubborness. He was an incredibly passionate person with an amazing ability to connect with others and a desire to make everyone around him feel special. He will forever be remembered for his ready wit, beautiful smile, and infectious, ever-present laugh.
Steven could amaze you with his ability to create. His love and passions included, but were not limited to, cooking, glass work, shooting, and gaming. He was a true gentleman with a hunger for adventure and the outdoors. He loved sitting outside on his hammock with friends and family. Steven was an avid reader, with books of all different genres scattered throughout his home. Steven's love for music ranged from bluegrass to the metal of his youth. His love of music exemplified his aspiration to find beauty in everything.
Steven grew up surrounded by his mother and three sisters - one older and two younger. This life filled with strong women instilled him with a deep sense of empathy that was felt and appreciated by all who knew him. Steven was a sensitive person and cared for anyone he came in contact with. He would have given his last dollar and the shirt off his back to help others.
The love he felt for his mother was unlike any other relationship in his life. He would do anything for her and the two of them had a bond that could never be replaced. Steven loved spending time with family, especially his Uncle Jay. Steven followed in Jay's footsteps with his love for Boy Scouts, adventuring, and the outdoors. Steven and Jay would spend many summers and weekends building forts and scattering rope traps throughout the backyard.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, Micheal Siegel; his maternal grandparents, James Robert and Mary Muncie; his Uncle, Jay Muncie; and his niece, Anna Wiggin.
Steven leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother, Shannon Avila; his sisters, Jessica Wiggin (Lane), Jamie Nichols (Jake), and Mary Avila (Clayton); his niece, Elizabeth Wiggin; his nephews, Alexander and Tobin Wiggin, and his girlfriend, Beverly McCloud. He is also survived by his kitties, who he loved and cared for deeply, Little Cat and Lily Cat.
Steven was extremely loved and will be dearly missed by all his family and friends, especially Wayne and Barbara Smith, Chelsea Powell (Chase), and Thomas Smith (Jordan). The Smith family supported and loved Steven as an extension of their family. All who knew him agree that he has left a legacy that will last forever.
Steven's family and dear friends would like to welcome anyone who knew and loved him to join them from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. on June 28th at Back Home Catering, located at 444 S. Mulberry St, Elizabethtown, to celebrate his life and memory. This event is a casual reception with light refreshments.
