I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ruth Hatterick. Ruth was one of the first colleagues who took me under her wing during my first year as a social studies teacher at Harrison County High School. She was patient, kind, and always willing to listen as I navigated the challenges of being a new teacher. Her insights and advice on working with students and handling the many demands of education were invaluable to me.
As I read her obituary tonight, I was struck by the many remarkable achievements throughout her career-teacher, administrator, and school board member. To say that Ruth dedicated her life to education would be an understatement.
Although I moved from Cynthiana after just three years and regret losing touch, I will always remember her generosity, guidance, and passion for helping others. She leaves behind a lasting impact on her students, colleagues, and the entire Harrison County school community. She will be sorely missed.
