John R. Holden, beloved husband of Loretta Ann (nee Wulker) Holden for 65 years. Cherished father of Mark J. (Linda) Holden, Jeffrey P. Holden (Juan Azize), Karen L. (Edward) Bradley, Kevin P. (Cathy) Holden, Philip V. (Vicki) Holden, Bruce T. (Librada) Holden, Keith A. (Kelly) Holden and the late Stephen L. Holden. Devoted grandfather of Jacob (Margaret), Maxwell (Amy), Zachary (Clare), Alec, Luke (Kirsten), Dominick (Jessica), Matthew (Haelyn), Grace, Nicholas, Meghan (Ethan) and Brendan. Great grandfather of Teller, Valley, Vaeda, Liam, Owen, Jackson, Colton and Levi.
Upon graduation from Milford High School, John enlisted in the United States Navy. He served primarily on the USS Vulcan AR-5, a naval repair ship (he liked to call it a floating machine shop). Upon completing his service, he returned to Cincinnati and began the apprentice program for the machine tool industry at Cincinnati Milacron. He spent the vast majority of his career at “the Mill”. He finished his career at Cincinnati Electronics working in metrology calibrating precision measurement instruments. John was a chorus member of the Kings Men for many years, devoted member of the Knights of Columbus and he volunteered for over 25 years at the Holy Spirit Center. John and Loretta called Madeira home for 58 years.
John passed away on December 24 at the age of 92.
Visitation will be held on January 2, 2026 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Road, Kenwood, Ohio 45236.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Parish, 525 Main Street, Milford, Ohio 45150.
Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to The Holy Spirit Center, 5440 Moeller Ave, Norwood, Ohio 45212.
