Steven B. Skinner, 73, of Pekin, IL, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL.
Steven was born on July 9, 1951, in Peoria to the late Ralph and Velma Skinner. He married Tracey Keith on April 14, 2010, in Peoria and she survives.
He is further survived by his daughter, SueAnn Skinner of Glasford, IL; son, Steven Skinner of Peoria, IL; step sons, Justin (Marina) Keith of Henderson, IL and Thomas Keith of Galesburg, IL; step daughter, Megan Keith Abingdon; grandchildren: Joseph (Jessica) Denson of Mapleton, IL, Daniel Denson of Glasford, IL, Jace Keith and Kaley Keith both of Galesburg, IL; and great grandson, Spencer Denson.
Steven served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972. Although a jack of all trades, he worked many years as an electrician but also taught welding at ICC and Carl Sandburg College. In retirement, he worked maintenance for Avanti's Restaurant and his co-workers became like a second family to him. He was a car and bike enthusiast and he had bought, sold, and traded more than any man throughout his lifetime.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service with military funeral honors will be on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. The family will be lining up at the front gates of the cemetery near the office at 10:50 a.m. The family would love to send Steven off in his style so they encourage anyone attending to bring out a bike or collector car if they have one.
A Celebration of Life will follow at the Sunnyland Bunker. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VVI Danny Haley at Sunnyland Bunker for Veterans.
