Steven A. Smith, 70, of Muncie, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in his home.
He was born on June 1st, 1954, in Muncie, Indiana, to Bob and Joan (Brand) Smith. He graduated from Muncie Central High School and was a material handler at Borg Warner in Muncie for many years.
Steve was a loving, caring, and giving man. He loved people and valued his family. He was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. He loved to work with his hands. Be it mechanics, building/woodworking, or fixing anything imaginable, he saw value in the smallest things.
His many hobbies and passions included hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and traveling. His love of NASCAR took him near and far. He never missed a moment to be on the water, as it was his happy place. He won't ever miss a race now and even though his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, no longer races, he'll be there.
"Smitty" never met a stranger, and his friends were his lifeline, especially in his later years. He loved hard, worked hard, played hard, and gave life a run for its money. He was so loved and not a day will pass that he's not greatly missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Shreve L. Smith, and her mother, Kim Smith, granddaughter Halea B. Kenipe (husband, Bryan); siblings, Jayne Donathan (husband, Robert), Chris Smith (wife, Johnetta), Thomas Smith, and Bobbie Devereux; and his great-grandchildren, Quinn Paisley, Colt Justin, and Cyrus William.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobbie L. and Joan F. Smith; and his brothers, Rick L. Smith and Robert A. Smith.
Private services will be held at a later date; friends and family wishing to attend are invited to contact the family for details.
