Steven "Steve" Fredrick Blake, who lived a full, active, and community-oriented life before passing away on February 12, 2026, at age 68 in Garden City, Idaho.
Born on April 3, 1957, in Fallon, Nevada, to Thompson Grey Blake (a Navy man) and Susan Kay (Haslam) Blake, Steve's early childhood involved moves to Honolulu, Hawaii where he gained fond memories and welcomed sister Melissa at age 2, then San Diego, California where brother Adam completed the family when Steve was 5, and eventually settling in Twin Falls, Idaho.
In Twin Falls, he worked at his grandfather John Arthur "Art" Cederquist's historic Globe Seed and Feed during high school, building a strong work ethic. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1975, remained connected to classmates, creating a successful Facebook page for the 40th reunion in 2015, drawing over 100 attendees, and there reconnected with Anne Clow, who became his partner for the next 11 years.
Steve pursued higher education at the College of Southern Idaho, then Oregon State University "Go Beavers!", graduating in 1984 with a BS in Economics, majoring in Software and Mathematics, earning the nickname "Steve the Beav" as a devoted fan.
Steve was an avid traveler, explorer of back roads, and enthusiast for places like Wallowa Lake, Oregon (with his annual quest for Kokanee salmon), the Boise Greenbelt, Lucky Peak (visited just a week before his passing), and a meaningful return trip to Fallon, Nevada.
A dedicated athlete, he competed in numerous running and triathlon events, including a half Ironman, multiple marathons, half-marathons, and more spanning from 1998–2013. In 2003, he founded Boise Run/Walk, growing it into a welcoming group of over 350 members focused on coaching beginners ("couch potatoes" included) to their first long-distance events. His philosophy —"Helping others helps the helper!"—made him beloved in Idaho's running community.
His greatest pride was fatherhood. The birth of his son Tyler, whom he considered his most important accomplishment. He is survived by Tyler, grandson Ashton Blake, and Anne Clow (described as the "Love of my Life").
