Steven Edgar Terrell, 72, of Harriman, TN, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, with his wife Debra Bishop Terrell at his side.
He was born on October 07, 1951, in Myrtle Creek, OR, although has mostly resided in Jacksonville, FL, Ocean Springs, MS, Buena Vista, CO, and Harriman, TN. Steve served in the United States Marine Corps between 1969 and 1973, completing two tours to Vietnam. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, Steve then served in the United States Army Special Forces. In 1977, he married his first wife, Donna Todd Bevins, with whom he had three children. He worked at the Chevron Oil Refinery in Pascagoula, MS for roughly 30 years, holding different positions until retiring in 2006. After retiring, Steve moved to Buena Vista, CO to be near his sisters. It was during this time he met his loving wife, Debra. They married in 2010 and moved to Harriman, TN in 2014 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Steve was an incredible man. He was intelligent, interesting, loyal, and generous in unexpected ways. He was a member of the Royal Gorge Marine Corps League and very proud of his service to his country. He loved NASCAR, college football, martial arts, and traveling. He had many projects, including the restoration of a Ford 63 1/2 Ford Galaxy 500 XL which remains unfinished due to his declining health. He was devoted to spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Turner Terrell; father; grandparents; many aunts and uncles; a niece; and many of his fellow service members.
Steve is survived by his wife, Debra; son, Robert Steven Terrell; daughters, Robin Terrell Taylor (Jason), and Linda Terrell Lindsay; stepson, Jeremy Houtsma (Elyssa); stepdaughter, Martie DeKam (John); siblings, Dianne Winters (Rex), Yvonne Riley, Robert Terrell (Rusty), Michael Terrell, and Anthony Terrell; grandchildren, Christopher Pasvantis (Kylie), Connor Pasvantis, Lukas Terrell, Caden DeKam, Dawson DeKam, Addalai DeKam, Landon Taylor, Sienna DeKam, Ella Pasvantis, Charlie Taylor, Anastasia Houtsma, and Reagan Houtsma; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at 1:30pm on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at 2:30pm at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
