Sue was born in Mitchell Co, to the late David Junior Buchanan & Helen Howell Buchanan. She was a dedicated Christian, who loved the Lord with all her heart and served Him faithfully all her life. She was a dedicated homemaker, a caring and nurturing wife and mother who made her home the sweetest place on this side of heaven. She found special joy in family gatherings, and her kitchen was the heart of the home—a place where every recipe was crafted with care and seasoned with love. She never met a stranger and welcomed everyone as family.
Sue always knew how to fill in the gaps, and was willing to step in wherever she could. Whether it was bringing food to those in need or lending a helping hand, she was there to make life a little easier for everyone around her. Those who knew her loved her and felt the same way about her, deeply appreciating the warmth and kindness she brought into their lives. She was a devoted member of Northside Baptist Church, she cherished her church family and shared countless happy moments with the “Bo Gang” and her closest friends.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her brother Jerry Buchanan, infant brother Ronnie Buchanan, and nephew David Buchanan.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Preston Aswell, Sr.; son Robert “Buddy” Preston Aswell, Jr. & wife Lisa, Jamie Danielle Doman and husband Eric; daughters, Linda Rose Chamblee and husband Davidson and Ruth Anne Davidson and husband Ernie; special niece, Michelle Garrison and husband Tommy; grandchildren, Jacob Key Aswell, Skyler Renae Aswell, Isaac Jonathan Doman, Robert “Tripp” Preston Aswell III, Wanda Phillips, Lee Ann Lloyd, Jack Chamblee and Will Davidson; sister, Linda Hobson and husband Ralph; nieces and nephews, Mike Buchanan, Brandon Buchanan, Darla Kegley, Mollie Schulman and Jordan Garrison; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other family members that she held dear.
A special thanks to all the staff at Wesley Long Hospital, especially the care given by the Intensive Care Unit.
