Sue Butler

Susan E. Butler, affectionately known as Sue, passed away on November 5, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on September 3, 1953, in Morris to the late Ferdinand and Myrtle (Elam) Rudow. Sue began her professional journey on her 21st birthday at Jefferson Smurfit, where she committed her skills and energy until her well-deserved retirement in 2009. In 1985, Sue's life blossomed in a new direction when she married Michael Butler. Together, they embarked on a shared adventure, owning and operating "The Butler Did It," a neighborly bar in Morris that soon became a local favorite. Sue had a love for traveling and exploring new places. Sue will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Sue is survived by her siblings: Kathy Guistat of Morris, Karen Daschner of Wilmington, Beth (Ron) Lantz of Mazon, Laura (Phil) Martin of Minooka, and Frank Rudow of Texas. Sue's presence will be profoundly missed by her nieces and nephews-Mike and Megan Daschner, Heather Miller, Amanda Lantz, David Peterson, Johnny Guistat, Brian and Eric Martin, and Paula Rudow-as well as her numerous cousins, and her good friend, Brandi Henderson. In addition to her human family, Sue leaves behind her beloved kitty, Maggie. Sue was predeceased not only by her parents but also by her husband, Michael Butler, in 2019, and her brother, Paul Rudow. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Sue's name either a favorite charity of the donor, Operation St. Nick of Grundy County or the ASPCA. Sue will be inurned privately at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Morris with her family. A celebration of Sue's life will be held on November 15, 2025, at noon at the VFW located at 309 McKinley St. in Morris.
