Sue Gustitus Obituary

Published by Legacy from Sep. 30 to Oct. 11, 2024.
Sue Mueller Gustitus, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 22, 2024, at the age of 78. She was born in Indianapolis, in August 1946, but grew up in the Chicago, IL area. She was the daughter of Robert John and Leona Hartfelter Mueller and had the rare privilege of having a twin sister, Carol, and two younger sisters, Mindy and Amy. She attended Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, Illinois, where she was a member of the synchronized swimming club.
After high school, Sue attended the University of Illinois, where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. She earned a degree in Home Economics and Childhood Development in 1968. When she was young, she attended church with her family. However, it was in college at a Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) event where she heard about the Four Spiritual Laws and learned about the importance of salvation and a personal relationship with Jesus. Also, it was during her sophomore year, on a blind date, when she met Paul Gustitus, who would later become her husband of 56 years.
After graduating college, Sue taught elementary school at St. Matthew Catholic School in Champaign, IL, at St. Matthew School in Indianapolis, IN, and then at St. Barnabas Catholic School. She finished her teaching career when she was blessed with 4 children. Along with raising her children, Sue started a neighborhood Bible study and was extremely devoted to working alongside her husband as a pastor's wife. She was a faithful prayer warrior, demonstrated humility, and was "others centered".
She had a passion for moms – especially young moms. She loved to encourage them and remind them of their special role in the world. She was a passionate prayer warrior. When she said she would pray – she did.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and twin-sister, Carol Mueller Tandy (Ed). She is survived by her sisters Melinda Mueller Meier (William) and Amy Mueller Lee (Rick), her husband, Paul Gustitus, daughters, Elizabeth Gustitus Yoder (Ken), Amy Gustitus Mahoney (Chad), sons Matthew Gustitus (Ann), and Jonathan Gustitus (Mary Lu), and 11 grandchildren – Aaron, Emily, Ava, Samantha, Olivia, Faith, Hannah, Elise, Jack, Sarah, and Joshua.
Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, October 26th at Cross Church, 4540 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227 (formerly known as Indianapolis Christian Fellowship). Visitation will be 1-3pm, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 3pm.

Still praying that The Lord our God, our Great Comforter, has Sue´s family in His arms! I am so thankful for the faithful witness of Sue and Paul on the IFA IN Prayer Call from the first day I joined in.
Sending my love and thinking Sue with the "cloud of witnesses,"Hebrews 11, in Jesus name.

Sue and her husband Paul were diligent the entire time I knew them. Sue has been a regular caller from the very beginning of the weekly Indiana prayer call Intercessors for America. This note worthy since the first 6 months of the start up were frustrating due to technological disruptions. Convinced of the power of prayer, Sue pressed through. Paul led our conference call group in our first remote communion... Sue was on the calls even when she felt bad and was going through medical treatments. I see her now, pain-free, happy, and ready to serve the Lord in a whole new way. Praying for Paul. Jeff B - IFA Indiana

Paul,

I wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss.
This past Thursday on the Indiana IFA call we took a few minutes to honor Sue and her faithful support to the core team.
Her power of agreement will be missed.
Yet, we know that she is now a part of the great cloud of witnesses cheering us on to take the land and to see God's name glorified in this state

Paul and family, we are so sorry for your loss. May the Lord's comfort surround you. Sue was a great encouragement to all of us on our Thursday prayer call. We were moved by her prayers and when we knew she was listening in we felt her prayers of agreement. Sue will be greatly missed.
Much love to you all,

Prayer Warriors of IFA Indiana
