Sue Hood Obituary

Suzanna Carl Fraser Hood, 93, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Shanti Niketan Hospice Home. Sue was born on November 27, 1931, in Metcalfe County to the late Carl B. and Mary Orlena Fraser of the Red Lick Community in Metcalfe County. Sue will always be known for her flare for storytelling of days gone by, her ability to tell a joke like none other, and her master skills in playing bridge for 70+ years.

Sue attended a one room school as a child and graduated from Edmonton High School. Afterwards she attended business school in Louisville and eventually began working for General Electric.

On October 29, 1955, Sue married Matthew Cary Hood, who practiced dentistry in Glasgow for more than 50 years. They were married nearly 57 years before Dr. Hood’s death in March of 2012, Sue and Cary eventually moved to Glasgow in 1961, began his dental practice and raised three daughters.

Sue was a homemaker but found time to go to ceramic classes, line dancing lessons, join a bowling league, play ladies day golf, play bridge, and be a room mother for her three daughter’s elementary school classes. Sue was also an excellent cook and could be found perusing through cookbooks for new recipes to add to her collection.

Sue was loved and will be missed. She always made you feel special and was never at a loss for words. She loved her family fiercely and treasured the time she had with each and every one. Sue was a faithful member of Glasgow Baptist Church and cherished her fellow church members. Dedicated to her faith, Sue made time each day to pray to her Lord, out loud and proud.

Sue is survived by her three daughters, Dr. Mary E. Hood of Metairie, Louisianna, Kelly Beals (Timothy) of Glasgow, and Linda Jessee (Mike) of Louisville; five grandchildren, Kateland Long (Josh) of Munster, Indiana, Matthew Beals (Katherine) of Bowling Green, Morgan McFarland (Daniel) of Louisville, Shelby Jessee of Louisville, Ella Jessee of Louisville; four great grandchildren, Ruth Long, JP Long, Betsy Long and Andy Beals; along with several nieces, a nephew and many cousins whom she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanette Phillips (Hal), Virginia Janes (Tom B.), and Cora Fraser.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Sue Hood to Shanti Niketan Hospice Home or Glasgow Baptist Church.

The funeral service for Sue will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday October 28th, 2025, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, October 27th, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Tuesday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
