Michael Wayne Hood, age 74, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Born in Dundalk, Maryland, on March 30, 1951, he was the son of the late Otis Calvin Hood, Sr. and Pauline Michael Hood.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Arlene Hood (née DeFatta); daughter, Colleen Hood (Alysson Cwyk); brother, Calvin Hood (Joan Hood); brother- and sister-in-law, Paul and Melanie DeFatta; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other cherished family and friends.

He grew up in Dundalk and was a proud graduate of Patapsco High School and Towson University. Michael began his career as a Baltimore City police officer before transitioning into the field of computer sciences, working with Goddard Space Flight Center, Raytheon, and other organizations. Michael will be remembered for his honesty, quiet strength, and steadfast devotion to family and friends. He loved a good hang, adored the dogs who were part of his life through the years, and could always be counted on to enjoy a piping hot bowl of soup.

Visitation will be held at the family-owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk, Inc., 7922 Wise Avenue, Dundalk, MD 21222, on Tuesday, October 28 from 2–4 PM and 6–8 PM. A service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 29 at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, 2150 Mount View Road, Marriottsville, MD 21104, with a celebration of his life and luncheon at Squires Restaurant, 6723 Holabird Avenue, Dundalk, MD, 21222, 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's memory to the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Music Institute or the Baltimore School for the Arts
