Francis (Frank) Schultz
June 8, 1951 – October 20, 2025
Francis "Frank" Schultz, 74, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully on October 20 after a courageous 10-year battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born on June 8, 1951 to Elizabeth Tracey (née Amrhein) and Bernard Schultz, both now deceased, Frank grew up in Highlandtown and attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School. A proud graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Class of 1969, Frank went on to earn his degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Towson State College in 1973 - Towson's first graduating class in computer science.
Frank began his professional journey with the National Cash Register Company (NCR) in Baltimore before joining the Social Security Administration (SSA) in 1974 as a claims examiner. His curiosity and talent for problem-solving soon led him to computer programming, where he spent the remainder of his career modernizing the systems that kept SSA running smoothly. He retired from SSA in 2016.
Frank was married to Mary (née Lee) in 1974, and together they raised three daughters - Stephanie, Courtney, and Jessica. They were later divorced. He was also the proud father of his eldest daughter, Stacey. His daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren were his greatest joy: Stacey Romano (husband Dennis and daughter Denver), Stephanie Ross (husband Fletcher and sons James, Carter, Andrew, and William), Courtney Sapp (husband Bryan and daughters Katelyn and Kelsey), and Jessica Schultz (husband Brian Campbell).
Frank was an avid runner who completed several marathons before expanding his athletic pursuits to triathlons. His discipline and determination were matched only by his passion for the martial arts. For more than 50 years, he was a dedicated member and respected Sensei at the Chin Jitsu Dojo, where he earned his 6th-degree (Rokudan) black belt and inspired countless students with his humor, humility, and fierce roundhouse kick.
Frank was a longtime parishioner of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church and later of St. Joseph Fullerton. His humor, kindness, and wisdom will be deeply missed by his family, friends, dojo students, and all who were fortunate to know him.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, at St. Joseph Fullerton Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. https://www.michaeljfox.org/
