Sue Mu Obituary

Sue "Susan" Jane Mu

1950 ~ 2025

- Sue "Susan" Jane Mu-beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend-passed away on January 28, 2025, at age 75 due to a pre-existing heart condition. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Susan lived with faith, served wholeheartedly, and shared unwavering kindness. She found strength and purpose in her beliefs, always striving to uplift those around her.

Susan was born on January 26, 1950, in Pingtung, Taiwan, to Chen Cheng and Mei-Ying Hsieh. She earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Ming Chuan University and later pursued a master's degree in accounting at Brigham Young University. In 1973, she met David Mu, and they married later the following year. In 1986, they brought their daughters, Lisa and Stephanie, to the Salt Lake Temple, where they were sealed as an eternal family.

Susan built a successful career as an accountant and controller, excelling in her roles at Touche Ross, Cream O'Weber, and Dean Foods, where she was recognized as Employee of the Year. Known for her precision and thoroughness, she set the highest standards in her work, earning the trust and respect of colleagues. Even after retiring, she continued to apply her expertise, helping friends and family navigate their taxes with meticulous care. While her technical skills were exceptional, it was her warmth, tenacity, and generosity that truly defined her. She faced every challenge with determination and unwavering integrity.

She found immense joy in food and cooking, always eager to explore new restaurants and experience different cuisines while traveling. She loved preparing meals for family and friends, turning every dining experience into an adventure. Music also filled her days, bringing her joy and comfort-whether she was listening to her favorite songs or paying her children and grandchildren to play the piano for her.

Beyond her love for food and music, Susan lived to serve others. She consistently put others' needs ahead of her own, always looking for ways to help those in need. She found joy in life's simple pleasures-solving Sudokus with quiet focus, getting lost in Korean soap operas, and sharing laughter and wisdom with those lucky enough to know her. Her love of food and cooking, along with her kindness, resilience, and faith, touched everyone who crossed her path and continue to inspire all who knew her.

Susan is reunited in rest with her parents and her husband, David. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Jason) Stebbing of Salt Lake City, UT, and Stephanie (Mihir) Bhayani of Chicago, IL; her grandchildren, Hannah Mei, Brandon David, Parker Kade, and Griffin Jason Stebbing, as well as Sloan Anokhi and Nalani Davey Bhayani; her brothers, Wen-Po and Jyi- Shing (Sue-Ping) Chen; and her nephews, Tony, Andy, Michael, and Albert, along with her niece, Raina.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Susan's life on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 E 10600 South, Sandy, UT) at 2:00 PM, with a viewing beforehand from 12:30 to 1:45 PM. After the service, a graveside dedication and interment will take place at Larkin, followed by a light dinner at Salt Lake 6th Ward (2255 S Wasatch Dr, Salt Lake City, UT).

For those who cannot attend in person, the Zoom livestream can be accessed by click the blue "Watch Services" button at the top of the obituary. A recording will be provided afterward as well.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Feeding America (https://www.feedingamerica.org/).

Dear Sue Jane, You are the light which inspired and motivated our father during his high school years with you and later during his mission for his future higher value of academic educational pursue, in return, he introduced you to the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the LDS Church while served on his mission in his native land of Taiwan when you were at Ming-Chuwan University in Taipei. And life became so immensely interesting through your devotion and dedication together with David Mu at the Y. Our grandfather also will never thank you and David enough while he was visiting our Mom and Dad at the Y due to your generosity and kindness by showing him around the Y campus, SLC Temple Ground and even took extra steps to showed him Vegas in Nevada though Grand Canyon. You are truly an Angel and we will miss you dearly. Rest in peace, with Love. The Hung Brothers and our Mom Ingrid

Sister Mu, you were such a beloved and respected sister, a humble role model. Your boundless love and kindness were truly evident in everything you did. From now on, there will be one less person who enjoys listening to me sing Taiwanese songs... one less person to eat my braised pork rice... I miss you······Love you······
Wishing you a peaceful journey...

The first time I met Sue was at our company’s summer party in the park. She was incredibly busy the entire time, cooking food, preparing drinks, and serving dishes—all with a warm smile on her face. I stood by her side, watching and learning as she skillfully cut fruit. To this day, whenever our friends compliment me on my fruit-cutting skills, I always think of Sue.

Wishing you the best in your reunion with my boss, David Mu.

Our deep condolence to the Mu family.
Sister Mu and Bishop Mu were instrumental in our conversion process. Their genuine kindness and tender care manifest the light of Christ. As I shared with Sister Mu after Bishop Mu´s passing, our family is indeed the fruit of their labor. As we reflect on those years in Chinese Ward, our association and friendship with the Mu family are one of the sweetest.

I served in Chinese Branch then Chinese Ward as counselor with Bishop Mu. That is when I got to know sister Mu. Grace served as counselor in Relief Society when sister Mu served as R. S. President.
You can always see her there whenever there is serving opportunity. She is like a mother caring for everyone. She is the eyes and chauffeur for Bishop Mu. Taking and accompanying him everywhere he need to be. Found a picture with them on the farewell party before they head out to California as senior missionaries. They are such a faithful couple to our Lord. I admire them. They are my great example forever! Rest in peace, sister Mu. Love you.

I met Susan Mu () during working at the Great wall Chinese restaurant in about 1992. She is a very nice person and very easy to get along with. She always listened and tried to help whatever and whenever she can. The last time I saw her was February 2023. We run into each other in Murray Costco and had a good chat! I should've contacted her last two years. I will miss her, but happy that she is reunited with her husband, David.

Brother and Sister Mu were our family´s first friends in the Chinese Ward. They took care of Sonny at our wedding. They were our home teachers. They were always so supportive and kind. Bishop Mu was also a stake patriarch. I was their dentist which was a privilege for me. They are irreplaceable
