Sue Harrell Hathcock Stogner, 78, of Oakboro, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023, at her home.
Sue was born August 17, 1944, in North Carolina to the late Vance Hathcock and the late Pauline Drye Hathcock.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wade H. Stogner, Jr.; sister, Jeannette Edwards; brother-in-laws, Edsel Edwards, Doug Branch, and Joe Lowder; and niece, Amy Boger.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 2:00pm at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Stanfield officiated by Rev. Dwight Mabry and Dr. Carey C. Snellings. Burial will follow at the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery at 12568 Philadelphia Church Rd., Stanfield.
Survivors include sons, Chris (Angie) Stogner of Oakboro, NC and Jason (Stacy) Stogner of Oakboro, NC; grandchildren, Meg Mason, Vance (Carson) Stogner, Jacob Stogner; great-grandchildren, Oaklyn Mason, Easton Stogner, and Delaney Stogner; and sisters, Joan Branch, Joy (Junior) Harris, and Rita Lowder
Sue loved being outside planting flowers and watching her grandchildren playing any sport. She was so proud and happy holding her great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie or Palliative Care of Union County.
