Sulema Alvarez Chavez, affectionately known as Grandma Sue, passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on March 5th, 2024, in San Angelo, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister.
Sulema was born on November 28th, 1948, in Pecos, Texas, to Carlos Alvarez and Frances Rivera.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Victor, her parents Carlos and Frances Alvarez, her brothers Carlos Jr. and Salvador, and her sisters Raquel Alvarez and Emma Barriga.
Sulema is survived by her son Albert Rodriguez and his wife Linda of San Angelo, Texas, her grandson Moses Rodriguez of San Angelo, Texas, and Christopher Rodriguez of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by her granddaughter Stacie Rodriguez and her husband Cristian Vizueth of San Angelo, Texas, and her great-grandchildren Kassadee Rodriguez, Xavier, and Amaia Vizueth, all of San Angelo, Texas; sister Teresa Alvarez of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews.
The family of Grandma Sue would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff at Shannon Medical Center and Hospice of San Angelo for their exceptional care and compassion during her time there.
A visitation will be held from 1 pm to 9 pm on March 14, 2024, at Martinez Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas. Details for the graveside service will be announced later.
