She was born on September 24, 1937, in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late William and Zelma Scott Dierringer.
Susan was a retired clerk at Wheeling AAA and worked as a clerk at Hallmark Gift Shop. She was a Methodist by faith.
She was very easy to like, beautiful inside and out, and was all about people. Her gentleness and kindness were what Susan was all about. Her love of family was paramount.
In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by sister, Nancy Waugh; daughter, Kelly Evans; and grandson, Garret Evans.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Thomas Lowell Ackerman; three children, Danny (Kim) Ackerman, Jenny (Richard) McCardle, and Vicki Kennedy; eight grandchildren, Bethany, Ryan, Aiden, Ashlie, Tyler, Gretchen, and twins Kelly & Allee; and two great-grandchildren, Falicity and Tansy.
Friends will be received on Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 12-3 & 5-7 PM and on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 11 AM until the time of service at 12 PM at Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311) with Pastor Tim Crummitt officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Memorial Gardens.
