Susan Jean Brown, 72, White House, Tennessee passed away Sunday evening, June 1, 2025 at Hendersonville Hospital with family by her side. She had waged a long battle with several illnesses finally succumbing to pneumonia, after having her cancer go into remission.
She was the daughter of the late Richard Jones and Lilian Treible. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was a 1971 graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School, Factoryville, PA, where she was a member of the color guard. She worked many years as an optical assistant and technician with eyeglasses and contact lenses. She specialized in training new patients in the care use and insertion/removal of contact lenses. While growing up, she was a member of the Girl Scouts and later in life a leader of her daughter's troop. Susan loved arts and crafts and was very "country" centric. Her home is decorated to celebrate every holiday with a variety of ceramic, porcelain, glass and handmade items. One of her favorite themes was the beach and the sea, as well as a Byer's Caroler or two or three for every occasion. She loved to read, especially books that helped support her faith. Susan was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in White House, where she took part in many activities-the choir, the Alter Guild, worship committee, and women's group. She was an organizer. Some of her successes including heading the committee to publish a new church cookbook as a fundraiser, keeping the crochet circle active during covid, and the "lunch ladies" social group, that now has over 20 members, many of which gather once a month.
She is survived by her husband, Ted, her daughter, Julianne Borst and husband Andrew, Piscataway, NJ, her mother Lillian Treible, Hendersonville, TN, a sister, Cathy Everetts, Scranton, PA and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of White House First United Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Edwards officiating. The service will be shown live on the First United Methodist Church Facebook page for those unable to attend. Visitation will be held 9:00am-11:00 am at the church. Family and Friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service Thursday, June 12th at 1:30 pm in Fairlawn Cemetery in Dalton, PA.
