Portsmouth – Susan J. Chasse, 72, wife of John E. Chasse, of Portsmouth, passed away peacefully at home, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 16, 1953, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Susan was the daughter of the late Clarence A. and Evelyn J. (Crowley) Foley. She attended St. Patrick's School and was a proud graduate of Portsmouth High School, Class of 1971.
Susan was an avid bowler and enjoyed many years as a member of the Merry Mixers Bowling League at Bowl-O-Rama in Portsmouth. She was also a member of the Frank E. Booma Unit 6, American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Portsmouth. A talented knitter and crocheter, Susan found joy in creating handmade gifts for her loved ones. Susan also had a passion for ufology.
When her children were young, she devoted her time to their activities, serving as a den mother for Cub Scouts, continuing the support through Boy Scouts and was always active and cheering them on in their sports and school events. Family was at the heart of everything Susan did. She especially cherished time spent at camp and enjoyed over 30 years of memorable trips to Eagle Lake in Maine. Nothing brought her greater happiness than caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Besides her loving husband, John, she is survived by her sons, David M. Chasse (Lauren Gamache) of Loudon, and Eric P. Chasse (Terrie) of Greenland; grandchildren Danny Lykansion (Ashlee) of Hooksett, Chelsea B. Chasse (Ted Harrison) of Rochester, Savanna K. Lefebvre (Alec) of Farmington, Cameron J. Chasse of Epping, and Kira L. Chasse of Epping; and great-grandchildren Elowen H. Lykansion, Aanya A. Lefebvre, Sebastian T. Lefebvre, and Karinna M. Lefebvre. She also leaves behind her sisters, Karen Brulotte and Diane Carlton of Rochester; and her lifelong best friend, Paula Whitney of Portsmouth.
Susan will be remembered for her kind heart, her quiet strength, and her unwavering love for her family.
Services: A time of visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 5-7pm, American Legion Women's Auxiliary services by Frank E. Booma Unit 6 will be held at 4:45pm prior the visitation for those wishing to attend. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery.
