Susan Doderer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pearson Funeral Home on Dec. 16, 2022.
Susan Margo (Davis) Doderer, 95, passed away peacefully in Louisville, Kentucky, with her family by her side on December 9, 2022.
Preceded in death by her husband, George Doderer, and daughter, Dale Wright. She is survived by son Wake Rohn (Joy) of Napoleon, Ohio; son Darren Doderer (Sarah Schoenfelder) of Raton, New Mexico; son-in-law Danny Wright of Kirbyville, Texas; daughter Holly Traczewski (Jeff) of Nashville,Tennessee; grandchildren Rutilina Doderer, Dean Wright (Tracy Larson), Melinda Wright, Rachel Traczewski, Nathan Traczewski, and great grandchildren Daniel and Dayden; extended family in San Antonio, Texas; and other relatives and friends.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Susan had a Quaker upbringing in New York City, married and moved to California, had two sons, returned to New York, became single, and rekindled her romance with George, the love of her life from high school.
George (employed at General Electric Appliance Park) and Susan married, had two daughters and settled in Louisville for their remaining years. They created a fun summer gathering place at their Rough River Lake cottage, boating and enjoying weekends. World travelers, they passed along their passion for travel to their children and grandchildren.
Susan was a bank teller in her early years, and became a volunteer extraordinaire after starting her family, donating time to Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cooper Memorial Methodist and Christ Church United Methodist groups, several PTA groups, Kentucky School for the Blind, and Wesley Wearhouse. An avid reader and traveler, Susan was also a Louisville Cardinal fan. Susan will always be admired and remembered for her kindness, unselfishness, honesty and independent attitude.
Susan's wishes were for a private family memorial, with interment at Cave Hill Cemetery, alongside her husband.
In lieu of flowers, please send expressions of sympathy cards to the Susan Doderer Family, care of Holly and Jeff Traczewski, 1005 Southside Court, Nashville, TN 37203. Special thanks to the many kind people at Miralea, Baptist Hospital Palliative Care, and Pearson Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson's, "Where Louisville Goes to Remember."
