Susan Donnellan, loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2025, at the age of 85. She was a longtime resident of Montvale, New Jersey, where she raised her family, and built a wonderful life with her husband, Jim, and sons, Adam and James. Susan was a talented painter who used her artistic talent to color her world.
Susan grew up in Hackensack, New Jersey, attended Trinity School, and went on to study art at Parsons School of Design in New York City.
She worked many jobs over the years as an incredible artist, creating Christmas ornaments, designing packaging and displays for Avon Cosmetics, and working with her sister Gail at Lukasiewicz Design. Whatever her job, Susan always expressed herself with art.
When not working in her art studio, Susan was a regular at the American Woman gym, socializing with friends, playing poker or watching soccer.
Susan's love of painting eventually led her to the Piermont Flywheel Gallery, where she was an active member with frequent exhibits. She was also commissioned by the town of Montvale to paint a beautiful mural for their new library.
Susan surrounded herself with art and shared her love of art with her family through the lovely Christmas cards that she hand-painted every year and lucky were you if you won her lottery and gifted the original painting.
Even as her memory began to fail, she continued to enjoy the beauty around her, and we are fortunate to have her beautiful paintings to admire for years to come.
Susan is survived by her loving husband, Jim; her sons Adam (Beth) and James (Julie); and grandchildren, Cole, Anna, Cameron, Eve, and Chase. She also leaves behind her sister, Gail Lukasiewicz and many nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
