Susan M. McCafferty Euliano, age 73, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at her residence. She was born on April 24, 1952 in Erie, a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret "Mint" (Preston) McCafferty.
Sue was a proud graduate of Mercyhurst Preparatory School, Class of 1970. She went on to attend Gannon University, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting. Sue began her professional career working for several local banks before founding her own mortgage company, Signature Mortgage. She later continued her career as Director of Finance at Erie DAWN, where she served until her retirement.
Outside of her professional life, Sue enjoyed sailing, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was actively involved in numerous community organizations, including the Erie Yacht Club, the Rotary Club of Erie, and the former Erie Maennerchor Club. Sue also dedicated her time to civic service, serving on the boards of directors for Athena Erie and the Millcreek Township Sewer Authority.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Pianta; her brothers, Michael and Patrick McCafferty and infant brother Joseph McCafferty.
She is survived by her loving husband, Douglas Euliano; her daughter, Abbey Busse; her sons, Frederick "Fritz" Busse and Joe (Rose) Busse; and her grandchildren Fritzi Mint Busse and James Joseph Busse. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Saint Jude the Apostle Church, 2801 West 6th Street, from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the A.N.N.A Shelter (https://www.theannashelter.com/)
