On February 4th 2026, while at home bathed in the love of family and the morning sunlight, Susan Candee (Cochran) Ferla took her last breath and peacefully slipped into eternal rest.
Susan made her earthy debut on mild autumn Saturday evening. October 28,1950 Ernest Cochran and Ruth (Candee) Cochran of Seymour, Connecticut became the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl with hazel eyes and dirty blonde curls. Robert Cochran instantly became a big brother at the tender age of 13 months. The now complete family of four soon moved back to Ernie’s home state of Vermont, and settled in the small, historic village of Bellows Falls. It was there that Susan and her brother spent their childhood and early adolescent years.
When Susan was 16 years old, and now affectionately known to all as “Sue,” the family returned to her mother’s hometown of Seymour, Connecticut. It was here that Sue met her husband and started her own family. Sue married Michael Ferla Jr. on January 11, 1969 while Mike was actively enlisted in the United States Air Force. A son, Michael Ferla III, was born a year later, and their daughter Jeannette (Ferla) David four years after that.
Sue and Mike enjoyed many adventures together throughout their 57 years of marriage including camping, boating, gardening, and country line dancing. They were both avid motorcycle riders, and Sue was even known to accompany Mike on his fishing excursions. Sue was also a talented seamstress, knitter and overall crafter extraordinaire. As the family grew, she most of all enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, Hailey Jones, Hannah Ferla and Jeremy Ferla.
Many may remember Sue from her career in the banking industry, and her years at The Seymour Trust Company and Sikorsky Credit Union. After retiring, Sue and Mike relocated to Lake Wales, Florida where she spent the remainder of her 75 years enjoying the sunshine, before succumbing to complications from Parkinson’s Disease.
In addition to her husband, children, grandchildren and brother, Sue will be forever cherished by her brother and sister in-law David Ferla and his wife Ginny, son-in-law Jeremy David and Robert’s family; sister-in-law Kathleen Cochran, nephew Daniel Cochran (his wife Lori and twin great niece Emma and nephew Pat), nieces Heather Cochran (her partner Damon), Candee Cochran and Lori Meriweather.
