Susan M. Gillett ObituarySusan M. Gillett, 79, passed away on June 17, 2025. She was the wife of the late Richard C. "Dick" Gillett for 43 years.
Born in Waterbury, on February 17, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Clinton W. and Marion R. (Bickart) McIntyre. She graduated from Watertown High School and attended secretarial school in Waterbury. At age 21, she married Dick and moved to the Gillett Farm in Morris where she lived until her death.
Susan was primarily a homemaker over the years but many will remember her from Gillett's Sanitary Septic Service which she ran with her husband, Dick for 45 years, and continued to run with her daughter until her illness.
Her greatest joy was caring for her four grandchildren. She was fondly known as Grandma Sue.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Carol Gillett (Jerry); four grandchildren, Zachary, Jaydee, Chelsea (Justin) and Adeline (Lou) Lamond; and her sister, Joan Enz Noble of Pawleys Island, S.C.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
