Susan I. Heitz
Utica
Susan I. Heitz, 74, of Utica, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Bethany Gardens, Rome.
She was born on July 3, 1951 in Utica, a daughter of the late, John Emerson and Marie Florence (Major) Heitz and was educated in Utica Schools. Sue was employed with Bank of America, the Neighborhood Center as a childcare specialist and retired from Mohawk Valley Perinatal Network as an outreach coordinator.
Sue was famous for canning and preserving anything from soups to vegetables. She had a passion for learning about homesteading, history and gardening. Sue adored all animals but had a special bond with dogs. She enjoyed taking her family camping in the summers to her seasonal camp in Port Leyden. Sue had a great love for the outdoors and loved having "Sisters Day" on her front porch. She loved music, especially Ozzy Osbourne and was an incredible vocalist. Sue truly loved life and family and shared it with anyone she spoke too. She was known for her quick wit and huge sense of humor.
Surviving are her beloved companion, Bill Blevins; children, Tracy (Michelle Pearault) Poirier, Monique (David) Millard and Maurice Poirier, III; grandchildren, Kody and Jonathan; sisters, Karen (David) Pauquette, Diane (Bubba) Aiello, Denise (Ronald) Carlone and long time best friend, Tina Blevins; canine companions, Bailey, Luca and Abbey and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Carl John Heitz.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 from 4-6 pm at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 40 Main St., Whitesboro. Funeral services will commence at the conclusion of visitation.
Sue's family wishes to extend their gratitude to the dedicated nurses and doctors on 5 East at Wynn hospital for taking care of Sue like a member of their own family.
Remembrances in Sue's name may be made to Anita's Steven-Swan Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
