TRINITY - Susan Marie Leake Hutton, 68, went into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Gray Brier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with the horrible disease, Fronto Temporal Dementia which she fought bravely until the end.
She was born on December 21, 1956, in High Point and was the daughter of the late Thomas Otho and Thelma Lee Leake. Susan began her career in the grocery business where she worked as a front-end manager for several different stores. Around 1990, she transitioned in banking with the help of her good friend beginning at American Bank. She later moved to High Point Bank where she worked for twenty-five years. She had many customers that called her for all their personal banking needs. Susan enjoyed riding horses and was a social butterfly with an outgoing personality, always with a smile, talking to everyone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Leake.
Susan is survived by her husband, Mark Edward Hutton, whom she married on June 21, 1980; he was devoted to her and took care of her during her illness. She is also survived by her son, Matthew Hutton, who was the love of her life and gave her so much support, of New York City; and two sisters, Carol Cloninger of Gastonia and Delores Leake of High Point.
The family will hold a private memorial service celebrating Susan's life at a later date.
Family and friends are asked to send condolences and remembrances to the family online on Susan's tribute page at www.cumbyfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Piedmont and Gray Brier Nursing Center for their care and concern and whose help was crucial in helping them through this time.
Rest in peace, my Love; you are finally free! -Mark
