Susan E Kishler, 79, proud Gold Star Wife of Col. Fred E Kishler, of Destin Florida passed away on September 13, 2025 in the comfort of her home. Born on July 19, 1946, Susan's life was marked by compassion, dedication and inspiration.
A devoted mother of two boys and grandmother of one granddaughter, Susan's greatest joy was nurturing her family. Susan enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking. She was well known for her pumpkin bread and sloppy joes! Susan was a dedicated fan of Ohio State football and was looking forward to watching the game the night of her passing. As a member of the Riverside Class of '64, Susan loved attending her annual high school reunions with her DeGraff friends.
Beyond her role as Mother and Grandmother, Susan attended Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio, she was a graduate of Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio and she achieved her Master's degree in Education from the University of Central Florida. Susan loved her career as a teacher shaping the values, aspirations and attitudes of future generations. As a military wife, her career spanned several states including San Diego California, Virginia and 18 years in Okaloosa County Florida. While teaching in Okaloosa County, Florida, Susan was awarded Teacher of the Year.
Susan faithfully held our military in high regards. She was very proud to be a Gold Star Wife and Family, and a member of DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution.
Susan is survived by her loving children, Fred E. Kishler III, Mark W. Kishler and his wife Sheila Kishler, Granddaughter Nicole G. Kishler and her Grand Fur babies.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, William Ernest and Mary Elizabeth Lawrence Koogler, Husband Col Fred E. Kishler JR, and brother Harry W Koogler.
