Susan Mann Obituary
She was born October 31, 1947, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Albert and Theresa (née DeLuca) Basola.
Susan was a dedicated and beloved educator, spending 35 years as a first grade teacher in the Collinsville Unit 10 School District. During her career, she taught at Dorris Elementary School and later Renfro Elementary School. Susan graduated from Collinsville High School and earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
After retiring from 35 years of being a full-time educator, Susan continued her love of teaching by substitute teaching and continuously reading to and teaching her grandchildren.
Susan had a love for traveling, exercising, and shopping but most of all she cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
Susan dedicated her life to teaching and to her three sons and five grandkids. Susan's greatest achievement was the impact she made on the lives of so many of her students, peers, children, and grandchildren.
She is survived by her three sons: Todd Mann of Collinsville, IL; Jeffrey Mann of Collinsville, IL; and Bradley (Angelina) Mann of Collinsville, IL; five grandchildren: Allison Mann, Giovanni Mann, Dominic Mann, Adrianna Mann, and Milania Mann; her brother, Albert "Bud" Basola of Collinsville, IL; and her sister, Joyce Banderet of Caseyville, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL, and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026, at St. John United Church of Christ, 307 West Clay Street, Collinsville, IL.
Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Jenn Sowell officiating. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery in Collinsville.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Memorials will be received at the visitation or may be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
