Susan B. Miles

Susan Bowen Miles (nee Lindsay), born September 1, 1941, in Paterson, NJ, to James and Jeanne Lindsay (nee Bowen), passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, in Neptune, NJ.
Aunt Sue, as she was known by her friends and family, was a graduate of Manasquan High (class of '59) and Monmouth College (class of '65). She joined Edward H. Miles in marriage on June 6, 1962, and stayed happily married for 61 years, raising three sons.
Sue was a teacher for more than 25 years in the Belmar and West Belmar Elementary Schools. She lived a life of service, having been an active member of the PTO and PTA, taught Sunday School for 25 years at First Presbyterian Church of Belmar. She was also an active member of the Women's Auxiliary of West Belmar Fire Company, a member of the Wall Township Community Relations and Community Alliance Committee for 20 years, a West Belmar Poll worker for 30 years, a founding member of the 8th Avenue Clam Diggers, a member of the Belmar Fishing Club, and also earned Wall Township Citizen of the Year, 2001.
She is predeceased by her parents, and her three brothers; Jim, Don, and Bill Lindsay. Sue is survived by her sister Carol Lindsay, of Wall, NJ, her loving Husband Ed, and her three sons Edward Miles, Jr. of Somerville, NJ, Kevin Miles (Carolyn) of Ocean, NJ, and David Miles (Allison) of East Petersburg, PA, her four grandchildren Lindsay and Natasha of East Petersburg, PA, Danielle (Matt) of Cliffwood Beach, NJ, and Ryan (LiYun) of Red Bank, NJ. She is also survived by her niece Penny Miles, who was a great comfort to her, and numerous friends and family who will miss her dearly.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736, from 3 pm to 6 pm. A funeral service will be held on November 25, 2023, at 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Belmar, 600 Ninth Ave, Belmar, NJ 07719.
