Susan Petran Obituary
Born in Wheeling, West Virginia, to the late Bernard and Ethel Gilbert, Susan was a retired Registered Nurse with the Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital where she worked for almost a half century.
In retirement, Susan volunteered with the Virginia Beach Police Department's First Precinct. Susan also opened her heart and home to elderly shelter dogs providing them end of life care. Her adopted included Magoo, Bandit and Gregory.
She is survived by her son, Charles Petran and wife Jin Kim, and granddaughter Susan Petran, all of New Kent County, Virginia. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 15 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. November 15.
Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA, the Animal Assistance League or to the charity of your choice.

Sue and I had been friends for 49 years. We´ve lived in different states for quite a few of those years but would get together when I came to Virginia Beach. I loved being with Susan and Richard as a young married because we had the same outlook on life. She and Richard both loved their son, Chuck. I will miss sharing laughter and stories.
