Ms. Susan Marie (Tatum) Planert, age 61, of Carrollton, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026. Born in Forest Park on August 6, 1964, she was the beloved daughter of the late, Charles Tatum, Sr. and the late, Rhonda Marie (Fincher) Tatum. Additionally, Susan was preceded in death by her son, David Chong, and her brothers, Scott and Jeff Tatum.

Throughout her life, Susan exemplified hard work and determination, proudly earning her GED. She will be fondly remembered for her kindness and love for those around her. Susan spent many years serving as a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens before transitioning to a role as a Heating and Air Conditioning Technician with Coolray Heating and Air, later known as Ragsdale Heating and Air. A faithful Christian, Susan was known as a social butterfly, finding joy in her connections with others. She had a fondness for a good cup of coffee and had a particular appreciation for a variety of cuisines, especially Korean food. Above all, Susan cherished her family and will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

She leaves behind two sons, Christopher Chong and his wife, Alisha, of Temple, and Stephen Fincher and his husband, Spencer, of Cartersville; three brothers, Charles Tatum, Jr. of Dothan, Alabama, Michael Tatum and his wife, Angie, of Kennesaw, and Matthew Tatum of Villa Rica; sisters Pamela Fishburne and Laura Ferguson, both of Carrollton; and her cherished grandchildren, Isaiah, Dylan, and Joe. Susan is also survived by her special niece, Jessie Smith, as well as a number of other nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and relatives who will honor her memory.

In accordance with Ms. Planert’s wishes, she will be cremated.

The family will be hosting a memorial event at Rockmart Women's Club (254 N Marble St. Rockmart, GA 30153) on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 3 P.M. until 8:30 P.M.
