It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Marion West Prince, our beloved wife, mom, grandma, daughter, and friend passed away peacefully in her home in Enoch, Utah on February 2, 2025. She was born on April 10,1967 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Anna Faulker and William J West. She was the 2nd youngest of 5 kids, 2 girls and 3 boys and the oldest of 2 half-siblings Marion and Billy West. Her father was in the Navy working on a submarine with the radar units. She spent her younger childhood traveling to different naval bases, from Charleston South Carolina to Key West Florida, and La Maddalena Italy. She was baptized into the LDS church in the ocean off Sardinia Italy. Her and her family settled in York, South Carolina where she attended high school. She played the flute in her high school band and graduated from York High on June 1, 1985. After graduating high school she moved to St. George and attended Dixie College. After attending college she moved in with her sister Brenda in Enterprise Utah, and later met and married Brian Phelps in the summer of 1985 and divorced shortly after.
Susan was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1989 and fought a courageous battle. She is known for her unwavering spirit and determination. Susan faced the challenges of her illness day to day with grace and resilience, always finding joy in the simple moments of life. She will be remembered for her positive outlook on life, infectious laughter, kind heart, love of family, and her unwavering dedication to her loved ones. She has a willingness to help anyone in need, whether it was an act of service or an ear to listen, she was there. It didn't matter what struggles she had at that time.
Susan met her soulmate and love of her life, Joel Prince, while working as a lab tech at the Escalante Silver Mine in Enterprise, Utah in 1990. Their connection was instant. She mentioned to her sister Brenda that he had a cute butt and the rest is history. She married her soulmate on October 14, 1994. She gained 2 bonus daughters, Rachel and Britney. Susan raised and loved these girls as her own. She later had her daughter, Joelie on February 13, 1998.
She worked at the Holiday Inn in the Breaks Lounge in Cedar City Utah as a bartender and catered to the banquets. She thrived with this job and loved and cherished her regular customers and friendships she made working here. She later worked at Smead Manufacturing running a file folder machine. She retired from Smead due to her battle of Multiple Sclerosis. She then tended for close friends' children for 5 years and fully retired from working. She loved caring for these children and treated them like her own. She was the craftiest person and loved doing any and all crafts.
Susan is survived by her husband, Joel Prince; daughters; Rachel Price, Britney Prince, and Joelie (Chris) Smith and 8 grandkids Hailey, Chevy, Cyler, Hayden, Ceslee, Cambree, Kashton & McKoy. Her mom Anna Faulkner, and siblings Brenda (Bryan) Hulet, Rusty (Patty) Graff, Gary (Francis) Graff, Jeff Faulkner & Marion (Ray) Gherson and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Susan is preceded in death by her father William J West, sibling Billy West, and grandma Ethel Averett.
