Susan A. Sackett

Susan Arlene Sackett, 72, of Saint Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025-just one day after her 72nd birthday-following a brave journey with Alzheimer's disease.
Born on June 12, 1953, in Dunkirk, New York, Susan-fondly known as "Sue," "Susie," and "Susu" to her grandchildren-was the beloved daughter of the late James and Lura Blodgett. Her vibrant spirit shone through in her love of snow skiing in her youth, music, singing, dancing, and traveling-especially when shared with family and friends.
Sue was a devoted wife to her husband of nearly 52 years, Robert "Bob" Sackett, a loving mother to Jacquelyn "Jacci" Sackett Easterling and Matthew "Matt" Sackett, and a proud grandmother to Connor, Devyn, Halei, Aubree, Lukas, and Jackson. She is also survived by her siblings, Bruce Blodgett (Bonnie Orkow) and Lynne Barden (Dan), Sister- in- law, Carol Sackett Paton (Al), as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
A faithful and active member of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Saint Petersburg for over 45 years, Sue's deep faith guided her life and relationships. She played in the handbell choir and sang in both the contemporary band Joyful Noise and the traditional choir for many of those years. She gave generously of her time and heart to her church community, always with warmth and sincerity.
Professionally, Sue worked for more than 20 years at Allstate Insurance Company. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to work alongside Bob in real estate for many years, and her passion for health and wellness inspired her to become an aerobics instructor at TUFF STUFF during the 1980s. In every endeavor, Sue was known for uplifting others and spreading joy.
Though Alzheimer's disease gradually took her memory, it never dimmed her light. Sue faced her illness with courage, humor, and grace, surrounded by the unwavering love of her family and the strength of her faith.
A celebration of Sue's life will be held at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Saint Petersburg on Saturday, September 27, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in her memory to Suncoast Hospice Care Center Mid-Pinellas or Lutheran Church of the Cross.
Sue will be remembered for her infectious laughter, her love of life, and the joy she brought into every room. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
