My husband and I have been watching the Bronx Zoo. I knew as soon as I saw Susan with no hair that it was cancer (I was a nurse and saw a lot of cancer). She was my favorite because she got so excited about all of her birds. She has all the birds she could ever want in Heaven. God bless you Susan. I´ll see you when I get there

I've been binge watching The Zoo for the past week. I'm so sorry to hear about the passing away of Susan. She truly was such a sweet and loving keeper to the birds at the Bronx Zoo. I know she must be greatly missed by her fellow Bronx Zoo team members and her beloved birds. Sending my deepest condolences.

As I write this I am watching The Zoo, noticing for the first time that Susan has lost her hair. Out of all the keepers on this show, Susan was the one with the most personality and it was so easy to be drawn to her.
She obviously cared so much for the birds "under her wing" and her knowledge of her birds was second to none. It is such a pleasure to watch and get to know someone in a documentary show like this, and she excelled at reaching your heart representing all of her birds. What a horrible loss to the Bronx Zoo. My heart goes out to her family's, both winged and human. So sad to lose such a great ambassador.

Like so many, I only knew Sue Schmid through the series The Zoo, which I loved EVERY SINGLE EPISODE and have rewatched some several times!
The enthusiasm AND education that Sue showed us with birds, hatchlings, the care needed, the "fruit cups" for the Toucan and the way she effectively and affectionately cared for her birds touched me, I felt as though I was watching my college room mate enjoy her job - I hope she is at peace, she is missed by many <3

I´m so sad hearing the passing of Sue Schmid. I loved watching her on Animal planet The Zoo. The enthusiasm and care that she gave to all of the World of Birds animals was not only amazing but so heartfelt. I´ve missed seeing her and will be forever grateful to have watched her at the Bronx Zoo for years. My heart aches for her families as well as the Bronx Zoo families.

I just started watching The Zoo on Amazon Prime a couple weeks ago and fell in love with it. At first, I wasn't sure if I liked Susan but it only took seeing her a couple times and the way she cared for the animals for me to really start enjoying and looking forward to seeing her. If she touched my heart so quickly through a TV series, I can only imagine how much she touched the people in her daily life. I am sad to hear of her passing. She is in the rare category of people who left the world a better place for simply having lived in it... R.I.P.

I love watching "The Zoo". My favorite zoo keeper is Sue, the bird lady. I was sad to find out that she had passed. I still love watching all the reruns of the show. Still feel sad when Sue comes on. I say a prayer for her and tell her how much miss her. I'm sure The Lord is having you take care of all the beautiful birds in heaven with you.
Sue you might be gone but you will never be forgotten.
