Susan Marie Smith (nee Laurenson) age 55 passed away unexpectedly on February 21, 2024, in Euclid, Ohio. She was born June 29, 1968, in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Sue was the beloved daughter of Bill and Toni Laurenson (nee Legan); sister of Bill Laurenson (Karla Ezerins), and Robert Smith. She was the adoring mother of Abigail, Rachel, Jake, and Mars Smith. Sue was an aunt to Greg and Wes Laurenson; niece of Jeff Legan (Barbara), Greg Legan (deceased), and Jim Laurenson (deceased) and Sandra. She was the granddaughter of Clarence and Anne (nee Petan) Legan (both deceased); Violet Laurenson (nee Carlson, deceased).
Sue continues to be loved by and leaves behind many other adoring family members and friends.
Sue attended Lincoln Elementary, Shore Junior High, and was a proud graduate of Euclid High School where she played varsity softball. She went on to graduate from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Most of her professional career was spent working in the insurance industry.
As a loving mother, Sue spent much of her time cheering on her kids at sporting events, plays, and much more. She was a familiar and welcoming face at St. Felicitas, Holy Cross, Willoughby South, and Villa Angela – St. Joseph, where her children attended school. She could be found organizing and working at fundraising and social gatherings, staffing the refreshment stand at volleyball matches and cheering from the bleachers at baseball games. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends, family, and two beloved cats, Twix and Nugget.
A celebration of Sue's life will be held at the Irish American Club, 22770 Lakeshore Boulevard in Euclid, on Sunday, March 24th from 1pm – 5pm. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Euclid Pet Pals (Euclid Animal Shelter, 25100 Lakeland Blvd, Euclid, OH 44132), or Forbes House (P.O. Box 702, Painesville, Ohio 44077 - Domestic Abuse Shelter that Sue supported).
Sue was a beloved member of the community who so often put others before herself. She will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends.
