Susan Young

Susan Honeychurch Young, 64, of Watson, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. She was born in Bar Harbor, Maine on April 14, 1953. She grew up in Kinston and Salisbury, North Carolina and in Malvern, Arkansas, where she graduated from Malvern High School in 1971. She played the flute in the high school band. Susan graduated from the Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a degree in Sociology in 1978. She later went to work for the Department of Labor, where she retired in 1998. Susan loved to knit and crochet. She also enjoyed traveling to different states in the camper with her family. Although she suffered from epilepsy, she never let it stop her from enjoying life. She also loved God and faithfully attended worship services. She is survived by her husband, Donald Young; daughter, Jennifer Young Hammons and husband, Benjamin; granddaughter, Helena Marie Hammons; parents, Frederick Arthur Honeychurch and Majorie Furbish Honeychurch; brother, Steve Honeychurch; sisters, Debbie Atchinson, Diane Mackie, Becky Fortner; and numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 11 a.m. until Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family would like to thank those who cared for Susan including the doctors and nurses and staff at the Baton Rouge General and most especially everyone at The Carpenter House. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation or to The Carpenter House.
