After graduating from Broad Ripple High School, Suzanne attended Hanover College where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. A trailblazer, Suzanne was one of the few women to attend Princeton Theological Seminary where she met her husband John Robert Hewett. Suzanne and Bob both taught at the College of the Ozarks in Clarksville Arkansas. There Suzanne specialized in sociology. She ended up implementing the first ever work/study program with the Arkansas State Prison Board and was a champion for prison reform alongside prison reform warden, Thomas Murton who was depicted in the film Brubaker. The family moved several times throughout the years - Norfolk,Virginia , El Centro and Los Angeles California, Clarksville, Arkansas, Baltimore, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Wilmington and Hendersonville, North Carolina. Suzanne's life, filled with numerous experiences and travel, continued to be enriched as she accompanied her husband who served as Chaplain with the Holland American Cruise Line. Their travels took them many places including the Caribbean, Russia, Hawaii, Alaska and the Amazon. And in the summer they enjoyed their lakeside cottage near Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York. Suzanne is survived by her 3 daughters Sue Ann Davis (Bill), Elizabeth Hewett (Pierina Morelli), Mary Wallace (Dan), her 3 granddaughters Hannah Davis, Rebeccah York and Emily Payne, and her 6 great grandchildren Dillon, Halen, Jason, Patrick, Teagan and Britton, Jr. Suzanne is pre-deceased by her husband John Robert and two grandsons, Britton and Troy.
