Suzanne Patterson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Leavitt's Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park on Feb. 23, 2026.
Suzanne H. Patterson, age 92, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026 in Ogden, UT. Suzy was born to John M. & Alice Hendrick in Nashville, TN, where she spent her early years until the family moved to Trinidad, CO. As a teenager she lived between their homes in Trinidad and Pasadena, CA. Suzy attended Pasadena Junior College and then completed her education at Colorado College in Colorado Springs.

Suzy met her soulmate, Jim, at a wedding at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. They were married in Trinidad on September 9, 1956. After working and living in several towns in Wyoming, Jim and Suzy decided they wanted to be self-employed. With all of their possessions in a one-wheeled trailer, they moved to Utah to start their own business. They opened their first dry cleaning store in Roy, UT in 1961 and built Your Valet Fine Dry Cleaning to 10 stores with more than 100 employees over a period of 53 years.

Suzy was a lifelong Christian Scientist and attended Second Church of Christ, Science in Salt Lake City. Her church home and family were very important to her, and she served her church in many capacities.

Suzy was a fierce advocate of the arts in Ogden, as well as statewide in Utah. She served on many arts councils and boards. These included the Utah Arts Council for 8 years, President of the Ogden Symphony-Ballet Association, and board member of both the Myra Powell Art Gallery and Ogden Arts Commission. She and Jim believed in building the community of Ogden and for her volunteerism, she was awarded the Spirit of the American Woman award.

Suzy was also a longstanding member of other organizations. She joined PEO in 1972 and served many times as President. She was also a member of the Utah chapter of Questers, an antique club, for 40 years, serving as President several times.

Suzy is survived by her daughter Alice and son-in-law Gary Moe; and granddaughter GraceAnne of Park City, UT. She was preceded in death by her brother Morton, sister Alice Stuart, husband of 61 years, Jim Patterson, and son Brent Patterson.

Funeral Services will be held at Leavitt's Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th St., Ogden on Saturday February 28, at 2:00pm. Family will greet friends prior to the Services from 1:00 – 1:45. Interment at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd, South Ogden followed by a return to Leavitt's for a reception in the Waterfall Room.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Second Church of Christ, Science, 1165 S. Foothill Drive, Salt Lake City, UT, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, your local animal shelter or rescue, or a charity of your choice.
