Suzanne Gayle (nee Woods, Cioper) Peiers, born November 24, 1941, was called home to be

with the Lord on September 1, 2025, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Suzanne (Sue) leaves behind her

husband, Carl Horst Peiers, of 25 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew R. Woods

and Bette (Finholt) Woods. She was the sister of Jon (Sandy) Woods. Loving mother of Karen

Stewart, Jeannie (Robert) Sterling, and Dianne (Michael) Wuestenfeld; stepmother to Kevin (Kari

Jo) Peiers, Tina (Rob) Leasman, and Claudia (Russell) Lantz. Sue also leaves behind seven

grandchildren, Courtney (Michael) O'Brien, Megan Stewart, Remington (Gaby) Stewart,

Nathanael Dowd, Gabrielle Dowd, Daniel Wuestenfeld, and Alexandria Wuestenfeld. She also

leaves behind three great-grandchildren.

Sue was born, raised, and educated in the suburbs of Chicago. She began her career in the late

1970's working as an administrative assistant to the Chief of Police in Palatine and Barrington,

Illinois. Sue was then employed by Motorola in Schaumburg, Illinois, where she later

transferred to Phoenix, AZ, working for over 17 years in International Personnel and Sales &

Marketing. Sue and her husband, Carl, relocated to Knoxville, TN, in 2003, where she enjoyed

working in real estate in conjunction with her husband. Sue was very active in her church, The

Episcopal Church of the Ascension, where she enjoyed volunteering as a church greeter and

wedding coordinator.

Her family and friends remember Sue for always having a smile, being vivacious, sharing her

love with others, and always embracing the opportunity to host get-togethers at her home. In

her last days, she maintained her high-spirited mindset, determined to enjoy each day filled

with love, enthusiasm, and energy. Sue will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves a

great void in many hearts, but all know that she is home.

Sue will rest in peace at the Church of the Ascension. A future celebration of life for Sue is

planned and will be announced to family and friends in the upcoming weeks. Rest in Peace

beloved Sue
