Suzanne M. (Schilz) Perry, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home on February 18th, 2025 after a 14 month battle with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Suzanne remained steadfast and incredibly strong throughout her battle with this cruel disease - fighting until the bitter end while maintaining her loving relationships with friends & family.
Suzanne lived life fiercely – unapologetically chasing each dream & passion with unstoppable energy. Whether it was her coaching business, her family, her friends, or her church congregation & nonprofit organizations – Suzanne approached it all with a zest for life. And while she loved to travel and appreciated many of the beautiful places she bore witness to over the years, she was happiest on the beach in Rehoboth with her family & her dog Buddy by her side – sipping on a glass of Chardonnay or a Corona Light & watching the waves roll in or the sun sink into the horizon.
Suzanne was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin to a loving family of twelve brothers and sisters. She graduated from the University of Seattle and immediately began her career with the United Way of Seattle. Her talents and drive were soon recognized and she ascended though the organization; ultimately becoming the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the United Way of Greater Philadelphia. After retiring from the United Way, she reinvented herself as an Executive Coach; coaching many from major corporations in the Philadelphia area.
Suzanne was a devoted wife to Alan, Mother to Chris Perry & Morgan (Ryan) Whitten, and grandmother to Oliver Whitten. The birth of her grandson was her highlight of the last few years, and she soaked up every opportunity to be with him. She was also a loyal sister, daughter, and friend – which was exemplified by the sheer number of visitors, cards, flowers & gifts that arrived at her doorstep during her battle with ALS. She was lucky to be loved by so many.
Preceded in death by father Leonard Schilz, mother Ruth Schilz, and brother Leonard R. Schilz. Survived by her husband, children, grandchild and eleven brothers & sisters along with many loving nieces & nephews.
A memorial service honoring her life will be held at noon on Saturday March 15th at the First Unitarian Church of Wilmington located at 730 Halstead Road, Wilmington, DE 19803. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Association are appreciated, (als.org).

I am so sorry to hear of Suzanne's battle with ALS and her death. I loved working and chatting with her at First U. She always had such a great energy. I'm also sorry to miss her memorial service, but please know your family will be in my thoughts.
