Suzanne C. Reniewicz

Suzanne C. (Gehring) Reniewicz, 84, of Newington, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026. She was the loving wife of Richard Reniewicz for 35 years before his passing in 2011. Suzanne was born in Bristol on March 4, 1941, daughter of the late Charles W. Gehring, Jr. and Florence (Clayton) Gehring. She was a graduate of New Britain High School and had many jobs before settling into her position as Newington Volunteer Fire Dept. secretary, where the members became part of her family. She retired after 24 years. Suzie spent much of her free time serving her community. She enjoyed serving as secretary of the Newington Kiwanis Club, spending many Sundays at the Flea Market. She proudly served as Division Governor for the New England Kiwanians. Suzie was also active in local politics, serving as Vice Chair of the Democratic Town Committee. She had a great love for animals, the Bichon Friese having a special place in her heart. A member of the Newington Veterans Fire Department, she loved playing cards on Friday nights. Suzie will be greatly missed and remembered by her adoptive family and her cherished friends.

Suzanne was predeceased by her husband Richard Reniewicz; and daughter Laurie Ann Urso.

Suzanne's funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 5th at the Duksa Family Funeral Home at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by prayer service at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest with her husband immediately following in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington.
