Suzanne Rizek Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Memorial Chapel on May 28, 2025.
Suzanne Catherine Rizek, passed away on May 25, 2025, at the age of 46 in Naperville, Illinois, leaving behind a legacy of tenacity and joy. Born on January 2, 1979, in Hinsdale, Illinois, she was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, niece, and cousin who touched the lives of many with her vibrant spirit.
Suzie, as she was affectionately known, was the beloved daughter of Paulette Hensel Rizek and the late John Rizek and the proud sister of Stephanie Rizek Guttas. She was most proud of her role as being mother to Ryan John Rizek, who she held dearest to her heart. She was also a much-loved family member to her Aunt Pamela Hensel Gibson; Uncles Tim Hensel, Tom Gibson, Shawn Hensel (and his wife Donna), and the late Ken and Jim Hensel (survived by Susan). Suzie was a cherished cousin to Sara, Ashley, Kelsey, James, and Hannah, and she held a special place in her heart for her late cousin Elliot.
Suzie graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in business. After graduation she chose to pursue a career in real estate where she became a top producing real estate broker known for her sharp mind and genuine care for her clients.
An exemplary athlete, Suzie earned 10 varsity letters in high school and was honored with an induction into the Naperville North Athletic Hall of Fame. At Northern Illinois University, she continued to shine as a four-year softball player, demonstrating her leadership and team spirit on and off the field. As an adult, she earned her black belt in Judo and a place on the USA Judo Team, competing domestically and internationally.
Suzie had a profound love of music and was also a gifted artist who used photography, canvas and other media for her expressions in aviation and steampunk, some of her favorite genres.
Those who knew Suzie would describe her as loving, faith-filled, loyal and courageous. She faced life's challenges with a strength that inspired those around her and a grace that never faltered. Her capacity to love and her unwavering faith were the cornerstones of her being, guiding her through every trial and triumph.
Suzanne Rizek will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her light, though extinguished too soon, will continue to shine in the memories of her family and friends. Suzie's story is one of passion, perseverance, and the enduring power of love. As we bid her farewell, we take solace in knowing that her spirit will forever be a guiding force in the lives of those she loved.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1313 N. Mill St. Naperville, Illinois, 60563, on Saturday. June 7th, 2025 from 10:00 - 11:00 am. A Memorial Service will begin directly following the visitation at 11:00 am.

So lucky to keep a memory of Suzie in my garden with her beautiful painted rocks. I will miss seeing her smiling face over Paul's back fence. God, hold Suzie in Your loving arms, and watch over those she left behind.

Susie was such a great person, always making people laugh and a great friend. As time went on she became an amazing mother to her son. My heart is broken, but I know Susie is and will always be looking over everyone who she has known. She will truly be missed and my prayers and thoughts go out to her son and family.
