Suzanne Roy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chiampa Funeral Home on Mar. 10, 2026.
With unimaginable loss, deep sorrow and heavy hearts, our family announces the passing of our beloved sister, a courageous warrior who battled cancer for 30 years with strength and grace.

Suzanne M. Roy left us, sadly, at the age of 59. She is finally at peace, free from all the pain, and is joined with our Mom whom we also just lost on December 24th. WARRIOR best describes our sister. She was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma at the age of 28. She received a life saving bone marrow transplant from her sister Jacqui as well as other life saving donations from Jacqui over the years. Because of Jacqui, Suzanne was able to live another 30 years. Unfortunately, those years were not all wonderful years. She fought more battles with cancer including jaw cancer, breast cancer and multiple bouts with skin cancer. She stood tall in the face of cancer showing remarkable courage with every battle. Suzanne truly was our Hero. We were by her side for every battle and stood tall right beside her. We looked at life differently as a family, we learned just how precious life is and we appreciated all the little things and everyday ordinary moments became Make a Memory moments.

Suzanne leaves behind her loving sisters whose hearts are heavy with her loss. Lisa Arminio and her husband Richard, Jacquelyn McPhee and her husband Matthew. She leaves behind her cherished nephew Maxton McPhee. Suzanne also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who also miss her dearly. She also will be missed by her beloved cat, Carl, who brought her so much joy in the last couple of years.

Suzanne was born the beloved daughter to Patricia Roy and George Roy. She attended school in Shrewsbury, went on to continue her education at Fisher College in Boston where she studied fashion. Later in life she continued her education as an X-Ray technician at Quinsigamond Community College and worked for many years at UMass Memorial Hospital.

Suzanne leaves behind many cherished friends many of whom have been life long friends and also share in the pain and unimaginable void they feel in their lives as well.

Suzanne was an inspiration to all, the life of the party, truly the Queen of Fashion. She could put an outfit together that would turn heads…she had that gift and it didn't matter where she was going. Often I would see her dressed up for doctors appointments. With all she had going on, she still dressed to impress.

A note to our sister: Suzanne, we cherished how close we all were and how strong our sister bond was. We have so many wonderful memories with you, thank you for being an incredible sister to us and always being there for us. Jacqui and I will miss you every single day. Losing you hits us hard and deep. Losing you left a void in our hearts. We love you so much.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury on Sunday, March 15th from 3-6 p.m. where we will celebrate her life and the beautiful memories she leaves behind. Funeral services and interment will be private.

Suzanne, you left us too soon, we are so incredibly proud of the way you faced and conquered each cancer battle. We know you will be with us every day. Not a day will pass that we won't shed a tear for you, our beloved sister, whose love, laughter and light will remain in our hearts forever.

I graduated with Sue & will always remember her beautiful smile, kind heart, sweet voice & soulful eyes. She never had an unkind word & always made you feel welcomed. I am so sorry for all her struggles over the years, and also not surprised with the grace in which she handled it all. My heart breaks for her sisters & family. Praying for peace that surpasses all understanding. May God cover you all in His love & mercy.

Lisa, I am so incredibly sorry for the loss of Sue. I have many good memories of the three of us together on Wachusett Ave. And Sue and I worked together at Sam´s. I always think about you both when I drive by your house. I´m so sorry she had such a painful life. So unfair. Peace to you and Jaqui and your families.
