My condolences to Gene and other family on the loss of Sybil. I am currently working in Alaska and was saddened to hear of her passing when Misty called me last week.
My family and I were her neighbors in Hector for 17 years. My heart is filled with memories of her and also of Bob Henry. I first met Sybil when Roy and I sat on their fine front porch in 1975 and looked across the road to the corner of daddy's hay meadow where we were planning to build a home. There were many more times sitting on their porch and visiting with Sybil, always a time to slow down and relax in the rocking chair.
I first experienced her generosity when building our house. She occasionally brought food over to us while we were working. I remember the taste of the lightly-fried fish she brought over which Bob Henry had just hooked a couple of hours earlier.
She allowed Roy and I to have a garden spot down behind her house, offered gardening and child rearing advice when asked, exchanged recipes and was like a grandmother to Chris and Misty. She was an important part of their lives and they often express fond memories of her.
Sybil and Bob Henry often watched us work in our yard from their front porch. "I like watching people work." Few people worked harder than Sybil, however.
Our family had a great deal of respect for her. I admired her faith, work ethic, grace, loyalty to family, and dignity. I honor her life and her passing.

Sybil was a wonderful Lady, who always had time to help a little boy across the street. I remember spending half my summers on there front porch. They thought me to whistle like a bob white quail, let me shoot rubber bands at grand daddy long legs on there porch ceiling, and got to help her draw water from her well. I eventual got to help her with her yard work, and would always be rewarded with a cold Coke in a glass bottle. To this day I will still get a small glass Coke and think of her. For the 17 years that I lived by her, I could never have asked for a better neighbor or friend.
