Sybil June Dunson, 91, of Kaufman, Texas, went home to be with Jesus on March 15, 2025, with her husband of 70 years holding her hand. Sybil was born on April 26, 1933, to V. O. and Jimmie Nix in Grays Prairie, Texas. She grew up in Terrell and graduated from Terrell High School. On February 26, 1955, she married the love of her life, Carlos Dunson, of Kaufman. Sybil was well known for most of her life for her singing and sang at numerous weddings, funerals and events in Kaufman County for many years. She was the church secretary for both the First Baptist Church in Terrell and later the First Baptist Church in Forney, where she and Carlos raised their family. Sybil and Carlos have two Children, Carla Clark and husband Al of Burnet, Texas, and Steven Dunson and wife Candy of Rockwall. They have been blessed with nine grandchildren: Bryan McReynolds and wife Rebe, Jeffrey Gerlich, Sarah Gerlich, Emily Gerlich, Ben Gerlich, Chandler Romero, Carmen Strader and husband Zachery, Grace Dunson, and Jake Dunson, who went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2022. Sybil also has two sisters, Norma Tackett of Terrell and Yvonne Ross, and her husband Duff of Georgetown, as well as numerous friends and extended family. We will all miss her very much, but rest in the knowledge that she has gone home, and we will be reunited with her soon.
