Sylvia Cornelison Obituary
Born in Lumberton, NC, she is the daughter of the late William G. and Myrtle Lennon Glass. Following her graduation from Aiken High School in 1956, she enrolled in the Westminster Conservatory of Music for three years. She then went to Augusta College the following year. She received her master's from the University of South Carolina in 1982.
A lifelong Educator, she retired from the Aiken County School System. She enriched the minds of students at Windsor Elementary, JD Lever and Millbrook.
Following her retirement, she took up residence in both Beaufort and Chapin.
Miss Sylvia was a member of South Aiken Baptist Church and attended Chapin Christian Community Church.
She enjoyed gardening and collecting various things. She was known for her excellent culinary skills.
Surviving is a son, Tim Cornelison and grandchildren, Clay and Claire Cornelison.
Also preceding her in death was a son, Michael Cornelison.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, beginning at noon at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastor Dexter Lambert will officiate. Following the service, cremation will take place and she will be interred by her son Michael in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.

I have know Sylvia for a long time and visited her many times after she moved away from Aiken.She will be greatly missed
