New Iberia - A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in New Iberia for Sylvia Eldridge Larson at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, with visitation at the church between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Carlton (Grumpy) Larson, and her three daughters, Karen Ladmirault (Wardell), Mary Ellen Wilke (Jerry), and Claire Flores (Ray). Sylvia was blessed with numerous grandchildren including Jason Wilke (Brittany), Rebecca Wilke (Kelly), Ian Ladmirault, Caitlin Kinler (Michael), Sophie Flores-Hernandez (Kyle). Her great-grandchildren who filled her heart with love are Holland, Parker, Avery, Luna, Sol, Ellis, Georgia, Peyton, Max, and Caroline. Two siblings, Ron Eldridge and Norma Callahan (Clarence) also mourn her death.
Her two sons, Christopher and Carlton, Jr., preceded her in death as well as her parents, Adam Patrick Eldridge and Mona Lemaire Block, her sister, Brenda Parker, and her uncle, Avery Lemaire, who was like a father to her.
Sylvia was an excellent legal secretary for over four decades. She enjoyed domestic and international travel with family and friends, supper clubs, going to casinos, and old school friends, like Jeanette Cochrane and Barbara Pottschmidt, as well as Patricia Chapman from her time as a legal secretary who were such a comfort to her at the end. Her long life enabled her to leave legacies of memories to all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Wardell Ladmirault, Michael Kinler, Kyle Hernandez, Marcel Breaux, Jason Wilke, and Parker Wilke.
Honorary pallbearers are Ray Flores and Ian Ladmirault.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jimmy Falterman and his staff for the kindness they always had for Sylvia, as well as the staff from Avanti Assisted Living, Desiree from Hope Hospice, and Carolyn from Right at Home.
