Sylvia McLendon Hamilton, 88, unexpectedly passed away on January 22, 2025. She was born on February 10, 1936 in Leakesville, Mississippi. She was a long time resident of Theodore, Alabama and she attended Murphy High School. Sylvia was employed as a surgical technician at several hospitals until she retired. She loved spending time with her family.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Jettie McLendon; her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Earl "Jackie" Hamilton; sisters, Velma Jamison and Rowena "JoAnn" Birdwell.
Sylvia is survived by her loving children, Roy Glenn Dreibelbis (Brenda) and Karen Hamilton Swan (John); five grandchildren, Jason Dreibelbis (Deborah), Courtney Kupfer (Peter), Whitney Prevatt (Josh), Tray Swan, Jacqueline Dooley (Keith); seven great grandchildren; sister, Alba Lee Driscoll; brothers, Frankie McLendon (Louise), Huey McLendon; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Crowne Health Care of Mobile for their care and compassion, a special thanks to Teresa Ryals for going above and beyond in her kindness and care.
Sylvia's family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday January 28 from 11 am until 12 pm with a graveside service to follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
