Sylvia Darlene Hurt October 16, 1959 – September 24, 2025 Sylvia Darlene Hurt, 65, of Rock Spring, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. She was born to the late Hubert and Betty Jean Kilgore in Birmingham, Alabama. Darlene and her family moved to Lookout Valley, Tennessee, shortly after her birth, and she spent her childhood there. In her teenage years, she met the love of her life, John, and when they married, they moved to the Northwest Georgia area, where she spent the rest of her life. Darlene was a kind and caring person with a big heart. For many years, she worked at Applebrook Daycare Center in Ringgold, Georgia, and Joyland Daycare Center in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Many in this area will fondly remember her from her time at Wanda's Restaurant in Rock Spring, Georgia. Darlene enjoyed spending time with her friends, traveling, and talking on the phone. She dearly loved her family, especially her granddaughters, who meant the world to her. Darlene always enjoyed being with her family, especially at Christmas. Her love language was gift-giving, and she loved buying special gifts for each family member. Darlene was a very loving, nurturing, and kind-hearted person, and she will be deeply missed by her family and everyone who knew her. Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, John Wayne Hurt; her parents, Hubert Lee and Betty Jean Kilgore; her stepfather, John Hyde; her sister, Patricia Baker; and her brother, Robert Hyde. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jonathan (Kristin) Hurt of Rock Spring, Georgia; sister, Sherry (Donnie) Daniels of Lookout Valley, Tennessee; granddaughters, Addison Hurt and Ansley Hurt, both of Rock Spring, Georgia; nieces, Erica (Alex) Cannon, and Jennifer (Kevin) Haswell; and several nieces and nephews. The family has arranged a time to remember and honor Darlene. Friends and family are invited to join us on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service, a time to celebrate Darlene's life, will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Following the service, we will proceed to Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park, 724 Hogan Road, Rossville, Georgia, for the burial. The family appreciates your prayers and support during this difficult time. An Online guest book can be found at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com. W. L.
